'I create animalistic art dedicated to the protection of our beautiful planet'.
About an artist
Nadin Sergeenkova is a soft pastel artist, originally from Saint Petersburg, Russia. She chose animalistic genre as her favorite when she got involved into the drawing in 2016, because she's always admired the beauty of nature and perfection of all its creatures. She grew up on Gerald Durrell's novels and practiced horseback riding.

She draws in realistic manner using photos as an initial idea and transforming them into an artwork with a unique story behind it. Some of her pastel drawings even have surrealistic features like ghosted birds in the nest or reflection of the green forest in the water on the opposite of the burnt one. Nadin used this method while creating an art project 'Extinction of Species' in 2020. The series of artworks consisted of the stories about the contemporary ecological issues: fires, deforestation, plastic pollution, illegal animal trades, etc. Pastel drawings from that project were presented on several online and offline exhibitions, including ERARTA Contemporary Museum of Art in Saint Petersburg, Russia.

In November, 2021 Nadin Sergeenkova came to the United States as a tourist with initial purpose to spend winter months in the warmer climate and make sketches for her new art project. She'd been staying at the scenic horse ranch among the green fields in Southern California, studying animal's behavior and capturing their characters on paper, when Russian – Ukrainian war broke out on February 24th, 2022. Her return ticket was canceled due to airspace closure and her bank account was frozen. Nadin faced the harsh reality of neither being able to come back to her country, nor being able to work in a foreign land without a work permit. This forced her to seek alternative means of supporting herself. Nadin decided to stay at Sandia Creek Ranch in Fallbrook for longer, helping out with everyday chores as a volunteer in exchange for accommodation and meals. Due to having prior experience with horses, Nadin was able to quickly adapt to her new surroundings and found solace in the quiet beauty of the farm.

Nadin's art served to bring the community together. The ranch owner's family offered her all their support and encouragement and very soon Nadin found herself using her skills to contribute to local fundraiser projects. She painted customized designs on the old horseshoes for Sandia Creek Ranch Auxiliary foundation to support the needs of the rescued horses, off-track thoroughbreds. Together with the '105 N Main Gallery for the Arts in Fallbrook' Nadin Sergeenkova set up a fundraiser 'Western Art' contest and exhibition, where she acted as a member of the jury committee. In addition to this, Nadin donated her artworks to REINS (therapeutic horsemanship program) for the silent auction at their annual Hoedown-2022. Through her art, Nadin was able to connect with her new community in Fallbrook, California and make a positive impact on their lives. As word of her talent spread, local residents who asked her to create customized pet portraits and decorations for their homes soon approached her.

Nadin Sergeenkova is currently staying and working on her art projects at Sandia Creek Ranch, Fallbrook, California. She set up an art studio at the loft with four feline residents on top of the barn with four horses. As she says, she usually works there 'to the fine accompaniment of purring kitties and snoring horses' and she gains her inspiration from observing the different characters of horses, cats, dogs, goats, peacocks and other animals on the daily basis at the ranch. Those are the main keys, which help her bring life into her animal's portraits.
